I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is already a week from tomorrow. I know people say that all the time around the holidays, those people are not usually me. I am more than happy to have the holidays because it is my favorite time of year. September 1st to January 15th is the most fun! Why January 15th you ask? Well, the 14th is by birthday….but then after that it’s just snow, snow, snow until finally May rolls around and even then it’s a touch too cold!
But I’m digressing. The reason I say that is because I’m preparing dinner on Thanksgiving which means I have some serious cleaning and shopping to do, which I realized today needs to happen this weekend. I’m okay though. I’m just happy I realized it today and not next Monday. OH! I also just remembered I need an apron! Hehehe. Well gee, I’m going to have to pick one up this weekend!
Also, am I the only one super excited about this?
In case you were wondering, that’s what I plan to wash down my turkey with!
I’m really enjoying wordpress, I feel the move was a positive one. I am having a little crisis in the identity department but I think I’ll be over it soon. So far I get along with everyone but the comments moderation people. For some reason they feel the need to make me moderate every comment and I’m just not happy about that and even though I feel I have unchecked the boxes necessary, they are still being stubborn and unwelcoming. I hope we can work out our differences soon.
Like I said before, I had been wanting to change it for a long time but I didn’t want to lose everything I had written, not that it’s worthy of any awards, but it was still my thoughts and feelings. Those are important to me. But what really got me thinking and scared shitless was when one harmless morning, I checked my statcounter and I had 300 hits in one day. This was a little different then my usual 50-70, and that was on a good day. I realized all of the visitors were from the same link and when I clinked on it was This Fish. Except….she was traveling. I had just linked her new site to my blog so I realized that was probably why she put my link on her site. Even though I knew about a year into my blogging career that having my last name in the title wasn’t smart…I also knew the chances of someone I knew finding it were very slim. But when I saw the Traveling Fish had linked me to her site, I know a lot of people read her blog. And there it was….my not so regular name just leaping out for everyone (like my boss) to see. My heart actually started to beat a little faster than usual and I raced through my archives deleting anything involving my first name and new last name. Not that they couldn’t tell it was me by the pictures, but hey…..I was grasping for straws. So anyway, when I investigated wordpress last week and noticed I could import everything, I knew then that they had me at “import”. And that now was a good time. So, it’s not that I’m worried about any readers I have now, it’s that I’m worried about who could find me out in the future. I mean, I’m sure people are stalking me as I speak! Okay, not really, but now I can at least feel assured that they won’t find it through either of my last names.
On another wordpress note, I enjoy the feature that shows me my most popular clicked page…..except….it’s the one about my husband. I’m not surprised, he is always stealing my thunder like that. And just because he’s so popular, don’t you think he should do a guest post?

Thanks!

This year my wife decided to have a dry run thanksgiving day to test out her recipes. We soaked the bird in a brine solution she got at William Sonoma it really kept it moist. OMG, the turkey was so good and I get to do it again in a few days!
