Hiking ranks up there as one of my favorite things to do. More so it’s one of my favorite things to do with Luke. Hopefully Gavin will love it too. It’s become our thing to do on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Sometimes we walk in silence but more than not we chat on & on & on. I find this time with Luke to be the time I get the most out of him when I wonder what he’s thinking versus when we sit at dinner & I ask him.
Today he told me all about Jack & Braydon. They are his school friends. He doesn’t like salad because there’s grass in it. And although he’d be happiest (his words) being a fire fighter he really would like to be an assistant to his dad at his dads work. He was also glad it was cold since snakes don’t like the cold.
On a hike last summer we saw a snake & he was not thrilled, to say the least.
Summer has never been my favorite season but I feel like that is changing the older I get however, my favorite time of year to hike is fall & winter by far. Is it just me or does it seem like cold air cleans out your thoughts? It rejuvenates me. And the quality time with my first born is priceless.
