Merry Christmas Eve

It’s 7:00 am Christmas Eve.  I woke up with Rob to make him breakfast on his last day of work before he takes nine days off.  I’m really looking forward to that.  I like to do that for him once and a while.

I have my selfish reasons too, I guess.  It’s  nice to be awake before Luke, to pick up all of his toys that maybe I was too lazy to pick up the night before.  And I hope to get the breakfast dishes done too. I’ll also get this computer time in without him trying to open the DVD/CD drive continuously.  Push the button, it opens, he gasps in excitement, push it back in, repeat.

As I settled in to my cozy spot on the couch with my computer, I heard Luke stirring.  He hasn’t made a peep in about five minutes so we’ll see.  I bet he smelled the bacon.

Christmas will soon be over.  In 24 hours I’ll be making cinnamon rolls and having the time of my life watching Luke unwrap his presents, which I’m almost sure will take us 3 hours because he’s already opened a few from friends and he claps and cheers in between each tear of paper.  His appreciation for the wrap job is amazing!  I can’t wait to see what he’s into more, the cinnamon rolls or the presents?  It will be a toss-up because that kid loves to eat.

Either way, over in 28 hours it will be.  The Christmas tree will come down, twinkle lights will get packed away, it always makes me a little sad.  I don’t feel any differently this year, I will still be a little sad.  Another year has passed.  A year that I’m not too fond of, a year that let me down just a bit much but at the end of it we are all safe and healthy.  I’m so thankful for that.

Merry Christmas!
