There will be prize to anyone who reads this post all the way through and has a witty comment.

I managed to read three books over my Christmas vacation but since then I haven’t been able to pick up one of the three that I recently picked up from the library.  I fear they are due next week and I hate returning a book without reading it.  I have managed to pick up my school books and read those, so I guess that’s something and probably more of a priority.

It’s not that I don’t have the time to read one of those books but I guess when you get lost searching goat cheese recipes for an hour and a half during your free time, well…there goes the free time, but I won’t regret it later when I’m making those goat cheese recipes.

Last night Luke did not fall asleep until 11:00  pm.  He went to bed at 8:00, as he has been now for two weeks….but the point is he stayed in his bed the entire time even though he was awake.  I went in to check on him a few times and around 10:40, I noticed him still sort of tossing and turning about so I laid by him and rubbed his back until he fell asleep.  He did within about 10 minutes.  Grandma still gives him naps, we do not, I think that is the difference.  Every night that he doesn’t have a nap that day, he has been asleep by 8:30.  I do sort of wish he would still nap because when the baby comes, it would be helpful but I think I’d rather have him going to bed consistently at the same time.  Getting through the day without sleep seems easier than fighting it every night or not knowing how every night is going to be.

I’m pretty sure my dog hates me.  She is either farting or barking in her sleep.  If she does hate me it’s possible she’s trying to kill me, death by fart.

I have never smelled anything so bad in my life.

It started recently so Rob thinks it’s the food.  We used to buy her the top brand, but then we had Luke and we had to knock it down a notch and I was buying her something cheaper with the same ingredients (I checked) and that was fine, but then they have been out of it the last few times so I picked her up something comparable, although I admit I did not check the ingredients because I didn’t think I would be buying it consistently.  But I also didn’t realize this might be the death of me, so there’s that.  Anyway, I checked again yesterday and it still wasn’t in, so now I’m up in arms and on the search for some good dog food.

Sunday was probably one of the laziest days I’ve had in really long time.  It started by waking up at 5am because I couldn’t sleep but then no sleep was followed by a nap, then a movie on LMN, which I then followed with another nap, then I woke up and sat at the kitchen table with my eyes closed and Rob approached me, “Why are you up if you can’t open your eyes?”

“I need to make dinner.”

“Um…can’t make dinner with your eyes closed.”

Ha!  I bet I could but I wasn’t in the winning a bet type of mood and then I remembered something.  Rob had just cleaned out our basket o’ crap on the counter and I saw a gift card in there we had gotten when my dad was in the hospital….it was to a pizza place and we had never used it.  I took a moment to pray it wasn’t expired.  Utilizing a gift card someone has purchased for you out of the kindness of their heart is necessary and not at all lazy.

This card does not expire.

There is a God!  Which I already knew but I like to say that sometimes.

So Rob had pizza and Luke had Cheerios and a banana.  He picked that over pizza.  That made me feel somewhat less of a bad mother.

My point is that yesterday I felt the need to make up for my lazy self on Sunday and that I did.  I did homework, I cleaned both bathrooms, which included the floors (blech), I made a homemade dinner, I washed some bedding and a few other loads of laundry.

This morning I’m exhausted.

This is not at all what I planned to blog today.

Tomorrow will be better.

  1. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with a lazy day! I think we all deserve them on occasion. LM gave up naps this past summer… I hated it at the time but now it works for us. We put both kids now at 7:45! Fabulous!! And then I get some quiet time or some time to go things around the house.

I would have loved to hear the story of making dinner w/ eyes closed. 🙂 Next time, take the bet.

  2. What’s my prize? 🙂

I remember being that tired in my third trimester. I would go to bed almost as early as I did in my first tri. Fun, fun. 🙂

Can Grandma give up the naps? Sounds like Luke doesn’t need them anymore!

  4. Poor Star and her stinky hinder! hahaha. Time for a dog food with beano!

Can you renew those books? I hate returning without reading, too, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and do it. And put the book on your to-read list. It’ll be there to check out the next time you have time to read!

  6. By the end of my son’s napping days, it was more for me than for him. He would draw in his room, I would lay on the couch.
