Luke’s birthday started out with pancakes and presents.

He told us a few days before that he wanted to spend his birthday with his best friend Brian.  Brian is his best friend.  He lives right next door to us and the two have been inseparable all summer.  It’s so cute.

Rob’s good friend who was in our wedding is a full time Fire Fighter for a nearby town so we asked him if he was working on Monday and with luck on our side, he was!  We set up a tour for Luke and Brian and didn’t tell them until the morning of.  Luke is obsessed with fire fighting.

His morning presents were rain boots that looked like fire fighter boots, and his cozy coupe.  He was beyond thrilled.

The car.

Then it was time to give him the boots.

He wore them all day even though it was 100 degrees.

After the gifts,  Brian showed up to eat breakfast.

As you can tell, Brian is all ready in his fire fighter hat.  🙂

I could not find Luke a fire fighter hat to save my life but don’t worry, Brian’s mom came through.

The little fire fighters.

After a little play time and putting out imaginary fires, were off to the fire station.  Fire Fighter Jeff gave us a tour and it was super exciting.  He made Rob dress up as a fire fighter.

Luke was a little afraid of Daddy all dressed up.

After the truck tour, we got the inside tour and then it ended with Jeff asking if the boys wanted to spray the water off the truck, they didn’t.  He still did it for them.  It was so nice of him to do that for the boys, I am so thankful and they haven’t stopped talking about it since.

After that we came home and took a little rest.  When we woke up from our rest we made chicken tenders and french fries for dinner per Luke’s sort of request.  I say sort of because all he really cared about was his strawberry cake.

“Luke, I know what kind of cake you want but what would you like for your birthday breakfast?”

“Okay, what about for your dinner?”

Hmmm, okay.  So I went with it and made what I knew he’d like.  Blueberry pancakes for breakfast, chicken and french fries for dinner.

We did get to the cake and all the pictures turned out blurry.

This one isn’t too bad.  After cake he opened presents three and four, a light saber and a pillow pet (frog) .

Then it was back outside for more play time before we all finally collapsed into bed.  But not before I snuck in his room while he was asleep to give him extra birthday kisses and to thank God one last time that day for letting me be his mommy.

I’m just so grateful to have seen this….

…go to this….
