Something I never want to forget

I had a moment in the Dr.’s office today when I couldn’t be prouder to be Luke’s mom. He was such a big kid talking, asking questions, answering the nurses questions. And he was hilarious, cute, and charming. It was almost for a moment like I was seeing his real personality shining through. He wasn’t whining or asking me to do something for him and or maybe because we’ve been trapped in the house since Sunday he needed another adult to talk to. I do know this side of him, I have conversations with him all the time but it’s possible maybe I didn’t see him in this way before. And yes, she’s a nurse and she’s all about making him feel comfortable but I could tell she was…maybe not impressed, but happy to be talking to him. He was telling her about stuff that he actually really knew what he was talking about and it just made me so damn proud of him.

The real something I never want to forget though, is this:

Luke is wearing a shirt with a dinosaur on it today and when the nurse approached him with her stethoscope she said, “Can I listen to your dinosaur?”

And Luke said, “Roooooaaaarrrr!!!”

I love that kid.
